At Oriental Melaka Straits Medical Centre (OMSMC), our Women’s Health and Nursery Services are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our Obstetric and Gynaecological patients. Our comprehensive services are designed to support women through all stages of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as cater to their gynaecological health needs. Our facility includes specialised gynae ward, labour ward, and a fully equipped nursery ward.

Labour Ward

Our Labour Ward is a cornerstone of the Women’s Health and Nursery Services at OMSMC, offering both inpatient and outpatient care for pregnant women. It is led by a team of skilled Obstetrician & Gynaecologists and supported by a team of experienced midwifery staff who are committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable birthing experience.

Facilities and Services

Delivery Rooms

We have four licensed delivery rooms, each designed with the latest medical technology to support safe childbirth. Additionally, we have a first stage room to monitor and support women in the early stages of labour.

Central Cardiotocograph (CTG) Monitoring System

Our Labour Ward is equipped with a centralised CTG system that allows real-time, continuous monitoring of fetal heart rate and uterine contractions from a central station. The system is also linked to our Obstetrics & Gynaecology team’s laptop devices, enabling them to monitor patients remotely and respond promptly, even when they are away from the central station. This enhances patient safety and supports timely clinical decision-making throughout the labour process.

Baby Resuscitation Area

Equipped with the necessary equipment and trained staff to provide immediate care to newborns if needed.

Nursery Care

Our nursery services offer comprehensive care for newborns, from routine monitoring to specialised care for infants requiring additional support. Our skilled nursing staff is trained to provide high-quality care, ensuring the best possible start for every baby.
