Dr. Rohsila Muhamad graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1999. Returning to Malaysia, she pursued and obtained her Masters of Medicine in Radiology in 2009. With her main interest in interventional procedures, Dr Rohsila went on to further train in the field of Interventional Radiology, completing a Fellowship from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2012. While her main passion is in the challenging field of interventional radiology, she also has a keen interest in abdominal imaging.
What is the role of an Interventional Radiologist?
General Radiologist is responsible in the interpretation of general diagnostic images (e.g. X-Ray. CT Scan, MRI, mammogram and so forth) and performing diagnostic fluoroscopy and ultrasound procedures. Interventional Radiologist is a sub-specialty of radiology that provides minimally invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system.
When do you need to see an Interventional Radiologist?
You should always seek medical advice from a Radiologist if you experience/need:
- Dialysis access (temporary or permanent).
- Dialysis fistuloplasty.
- Lower limb angioplasty for diabetic foot.
- Severe or recurrent hemoptysis.
- Gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Liver cancer intra-arterial chemoembolization.
- Uterine Fibroid intra-arterial embolization.
- Tissue/organ biopsy.
- Abnormal body fluid drainage.
